  • Written by Woodinville Weekly Staff

Obit-ClausonMichael Andrew Clauson, 61, of Kirkland, Washington passed away on February 23, 2017 at his home.

Michael was a devoted father who enjoyed spending his summers camping with his family at Fort Stevens State Park. When his children were younger, they all spent baseball season at the complex in Woodinville and Michael volunteered his time as a little league umpire, and only made a few “questionable calls” according to his children. He was also a problem solver, a human version of Google, and his quick wit went unmatched. Michael had an open door policy resulting in many neighborhood kids and his children’s friends looking at him as a father figure and he treated them as his own.

Michael was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all. He is predeceased by his parents, Marvin and Annelies Clauson. Michael is survived by his five children, Michael and his wife Kelly, Mark and his wife Ashley, Miranda and her husband Wade, Matthew, Morgan, three grandchildren, Kennedy, Madison, and Hailey, two brothers, Marc and his wife Fiona, Marvin and his partner Sandie, and his partner Janet.

A celebration of life will be held at Lake Forest Park Civic Club, 17301 Beach Drive, Lake Forest Park, Washington 98155 on March 25th, 2017 at 1 pm. The family will be present from 1pm-5pm with speeches and open mic taking place at 2pm. The family is collecting donations at Michael Clauson’s Memorial Fund at GoFundMe.com for a donation to Oregon State Parks in his name and a bench to be placed in his honor at Fort Stevens State Park, where the family plans to uphold Michael’s camping tradition.
