Before people found love online, there was The Love Boat, and before that, you could try your luck on a cruise ship. Enjoy the farcical antics and comically, colorful passengers aboard the Love Boat (that is, the S.S. American). Where else might you find a former evangelist turned nightclub singer, a Wall Street broker, a debutante and public enemy #13, all looking for love? Winsome Singing and Dancing, Fun for all ages.
The S.S. American is sailing between New York and England with a comically colorful assemblage of passengers: Reno Sweeney (Lillybeth Held), a popular nightclub singer and former evangelist, her pal Billy Crocker, a lovelorn Wall Street broker (Sam Trott) who has come aboard to try to win the favor of his beloved Hope Harcourt (Grace Hammarlund) who is engaged to another passenger, Sir Evelyn Oakleigh, and a second-rate conman named Moonface Martin, aka “Public Enemy #13.” Song, dance, and farcical antics ensue as Reno and Moonface try to help Billy win the love of his life.
Bring the whole family to this Inglemoor High School Jazz Band and Valhalla Players’ performance of Anything Goes, with music and lyrics by the incomparable Cole Porter (You’re the Top, Friendship, I Get No Kick From Champagne).
Several passengers surprise even themselves by finding love...just not where they were looking for it! (A show even your grandparents will enjoy, so bring them along). At the Northshore Performing Arts Center May 4, 5, 10, 11 & 12th at 7:00 p.m. And May 12 at 2:00 p.m.
Tickets available at the door and online at www.nsd.org/inglemoor
