At this month’s Woodinville Meaningful Movie on Friday, Oct 12, the film “Sustainable” weaves together expert analysis of America’s food system with the story of one remarkable farmer, Marty Travis, a seventh-generation farmer in central Illinois who watched his land and community fall victim to the pressures of big agribusiness. Determined to create a proud legacy for his son, Marty transforms his money-losing farm by adopting sustainable agriculture. The film weaves in interviews with other pioneering farmers in a story of hope and transformation.
After the movie, this month’s guest facilitator Jason Padvorac will lead the post-movie discussion and add his own insights as a local farmer. Padvorac is a suburban farmer and teacher of about permaculture.
