Have you been imagining your summer garden? Debating which tomato to grow on your deck or which one will have the sweetest juicy flavor? Or, wondering what plants will attract hummingbirds and butterflies to your backyard?
The Woodinville Garden Club Plant Sale has solutions for you!
Beautiful, healthy plants, especially chosen for our Pacific Northwest climate, will be found at the Woodinville Garden Club Plant Sale. This popular event returns to the bucolic grounds of Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery on Saturday, May 11, 2019 from 9:00 to 3:00 pm.
Tomatoes, annuals, hanging baskets and planted containers are among the extensive selection of over 15,000 plants that will be available. New and unique plant varieties will be offered. These include Tomato “Sweet and Neat”, a perfect red cherry tomato ideal for container gardening and a juicy Heirloom, “Genuine”, known for rich and tangy flavor. Many other favorite and dependable varieties, such as “Sungold” and “Early Girl”, all greenhouse grown in sturdy one-gallon containers, will be there too.
Tasty and special lettuces for your summer salads will be available in the vegie section. Perhaps give Salanova ‘Green Butter’ a try; with its delicate buttery flavor it is sure to please your palate! If you prefer a sweet, crisp lettuce, then Nevada ‘Batavia’ is an excellent variety to select.
Annuals will be in abundance at the sale. Perfect for the shady areas of your garden, there will be several new coleus varieties from which to choose; these are deer resistant and attract butterflies and hummingbirds. Coleus are beloved foliage plants in tones of yellow, lime, bright green, purple and rose.
An addition to the sale this year is the annual Nicotiana ‘Cranberry Isles’. When in bloom, you will be treated to the sweet and gentle scents of jasmine, orange blossom and gardenia as you relax at the end of the day. For your containers or window boxes, save a spot for the compact and elegant Angelonia ‘Sungelonia’, a profuse and continuous bloomer with dark green glossy foliage. Bring color right away with a beautiful lush hanging basket or planted container or delight Mom with one on Mother’s Day.
A sale favorite once again is sure to be the choice perennials from the personal gardens of the club membership. There will be Trachystemon, Ladies Mantle, Autumn Charm Sedum and Hellebores, May Apples, Black Mondo Grass, Astillbe, Brunnera, Hosta and dozens more. These enduring favorites typically sell out rapidly. If you are new to gardening, please ask a club member for advice to help you select the perfect plants for your garden.
All prices are reasonable, and parking is free! We will be accepting cash, checks or credit cards as payment options. Plenty of boxes will be on site for your use, and help will be available to carry your treasures to your car. Plan to come early for the best selection!
