UW Bothell Inspire STEM Festival expected to attract 700 kids

The University of Washington Bothell will host the Inspire STEM Festival on Saturday Oct. 10, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. The festival will take place at UW Bothell, and will feature hands-on workshops, guest speakers, and a street fair filled with interactive exhibits — all with a focus on getting fifth through eighth grade girls (and boys) excited about science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

There is no single age group of people more affected by substance abuse than young people. In fact, more than 23 million people over the age of 12 are addicted to alcohol and other substances. Young people who begin drinking alcohol prior to the age of 15 are five times more likely to become addicted.

Free Savvy Gardener Class: “Drought Recovery and Developing a Resilient Landscape”

Ladd Smith, co-owner of In Harmony Sustainable Landscapes, will discuss “Drought Recovery and Developing a Resilient Landscape.” Our gardens and landscapes have just gone through the hottest and driest summer on record.

Nightmare at Beaver Lake charity haunted house comes to Sammamish

It is that time of year when scary things are beginning to take shape in Sammamish. Nightmare at Beaver Lake is an indoor/outdoor Halloween Haunted House experience that has been scaring the daylights out of folks for the past 12 years. This all volunteer-all for charity event is a fundraiser of the Rotary Club of Sammamish. Each year over 12,000 people wander the haunted trails of Beaver Lake Park in Sammamish during the last half of October experiencing ghosts, ghouls, zombies, vampires, scary clowns, headless horsemen and more!

Snohomish Pumpkin River Race returns

Historic Downtown Snohomish and Snohomish Valley Festival of Pumpkins are teaming up with Snohomish County Volunteer Search & Rescue to produce this event in the “Pumpkin Capital of the Northwest!”

Saturday, Oct. 10,
9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Race begins at 10 a.m.
