A fundraiser for the Kenmore Senior Center will take place at Northshore Senior Center, 10201 East Riverside Dr., on Sunday, Oct. 18 at 2 p.m. It will feature the Cliff Perry Band, a Pacific Northwest traditional bluegrass band with outstanding musicians starring our own Cliff Perry from the transportation department. Join the Arthritis Foundation for the inaugural Bone and Joint Expo on Saturday, Oct. 24 from 8 a.m.- 3 p.m. at Bastyr University. Check-in, refreshments and exhibits begin at 8 a.m. and the keynote session begins at 9 a.m.
Leading tennis players from around the world will compete for $50,000 in prize money at the Kirkland Classic, a USTA Pro Circuit event, Oct. 4-11 at the Central Park Tennis Club in Kirkland.
The event will draw USTA Women’s Pro Circuit players from both the U.S. and internationally as they position themselves for the upcoming Australian Open. Many players are recent participants in the U.S. Open, including a number of 100 WTA players. The event is currently sold out.
“The USTA Pro Circuit tournaments have a history of fostering and incubating tennis talent both on the national and international stage,” said Vitaly Gorin, tournament director. “The Kirkland Classic offers the Northwest the opportunity to be a part of that tradition, right here in our backyard.”
