On March 26th, 2018, Roger Simon Rohrich unexpectedly passed away peacefully at his home in Anacortes, Washington at the age of 76.

roger obitHe was born on Feb. 16, 1942 to Joseph and Mary Rohrich on the family farm outside the city of Linton, North Dakota, a small, but growing area that was settled in 1828 by his immigrating Russian-German relatives. German was their first language, learning English when the children went to school.  A family of nine children who were taught at an early age how to work hard in order to be productive.

In 1960 his brother Irvin encouraged Roger to move to Seattle to sell cars with him at his dealership.  His early work ethic enabled him to progress quickly and he was hired in 1962 by Arthur Evered of Evered Motors in Bellevue, Wash. This is where he thrived and for the next 40+ years he climbed the ladder and ultimately became part owner of Bellevue Lincoln Mercury. Known by many in the car business and beyond as being fair, hard driven, honest, and respected by all who knew him. He often responded to the name “Commander in Chief.”

In 1967 he married Sandra Wood, was inducted into the Army, and they lived in Germany for two years. They were married for 40 years, raising their three boys in Woodinville, since 1972.  Many good times were spent at their vacation home on Similk Beach in Anacortes, where he eventually retired.  He excelled at his hobby...crabbing in the bay and sharing the catch!

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary, a sister Irene and brother Clarence. He is survived by his loving family which includes his son Rob and daughter-in-law Laurie; son Brian; son Kevin and daughter-in-law Meredith; grandchildren Alison, Reid, Elizabeth, Grady and Brooklyn; brothers Claude, Irv, Clem, and Wilbur; sisters Lorraine and Yolanda; many nephews and nieces; countless friends and associates all of whom will miss his energy, generous habit, and infectious laugh.
