James Douglas Lathrop, 77, passed away at home, peacefully in his sleep, on Saturday, March 31, 2017. He was born on June 15, 1940 in Seattle, Washington to parents Theodore and Shirley Smith Lathrop. He is survived by his domestic partner of 29 years, Kathleen Manley; sons Scott M. Lathrop (Kathryn), Ty J. Lathrop (Leslie), daughter Suzanne Q. Bigleman (Bill), stepdaughter Robin Carlson (Steve), stepson Robert Powell Liggitt; grandchildren Christopher M. Lathrop, Chloe Bigleman, Cambri Collins, Mallory Bigleman, David Lathrop, Nick Lathrop, Riley Lathrop, Jake Lathrop and Spencer Carlson, as well as many friends, family and his beloved black Labrador, Rhyder. Doug retired from the International Heavy Equipment Operators Union after 50 years of service. He worked on many of the large road construction sites in the Seattle area. A memorial service will be held on Sunday June 3rd, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Northshore Senior Center Health and Wellness building in Bothell, Washington. In lieu of flowers, friends are encouraged to donate to their favorite charity.
