The Judge went to celebrate eternal life with his Heavenly Father on August 13, 2018.
Thomas Thaddeus Glover was born July 10, 1945 in Seattle. He spent most of his childhood in Monroe. As a lad, he enjoyed 4-H, FFA, and his father’s ice cream shop. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1963 and from Washington State University in 1967 (he served as student body president in both schools). He attended law school at the University of Washington and practiced bankruptcy law thereafter from 1970 - 1985. He was appointed as a Federal Bankruptcy Judge in 1985 and served in said position until his retirement in 2010. The successes of his judgeship include the changes that led to electronic case filing for bankruptcy cases and the establishment of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Washington’s Thomas T. Glover Mediation Program. He loved ice cream, hamburgers, maple bars, baseball, the state of Israel, and raising chickens in Clearview.
Tom valued his faith in Jesus above everything else. That enabled him to love his wife of 51 years. He served as a leader in the local church and Christian ministries including Lay Witness Missions, Home Fellowship Groups, CMJ and Man Prayer at Sonrise Christian Center. Out of Tom’s love for teaching the Old Testament, Tom gained a passion for Israel where Jesus taught. He made 18 trips to Israel, where he led Tom’s Israel tours. Many experienced the Bible coming alive for them through Tom’s Tours. In the last five years he has shared his knowledge on 43 radio programs on AM 820 with Rabbi Hylan Slobotkin from Beit Tikvah Messianic Congregation. Tom loved to sing and worship and sang in church choirs all his life, including Mosaic Choir for the last two years. Over the years he has had the privilege of performing weddings for family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Gretchen Lee Ashe Glover and their five children (Dr. Sarah Glover Wilson-Gastroenterologist ; Dr. Andrew Glover—Surgeon, Laura Glover Wasson—Teacher, Karen Glover Lytle—Worship Leader, and Martha Glover—Attorney), and 15 grandchildren (Ella, Camille, Edward, Fiona, Hayley, Seth, Kya, Brietta, Clarice, Francesca, Lucia, Valea, Jackson, Grady, and Brayden).
