She and Everett Starkenburg began their life together that very same year renovating a house with an office for her business. The two married and after retiring, they moved to Woodinville.

Jan and Everett enjoyed touring the U.S., cruising in their Hot Rod with the top down listening to old rock music. Along the way, they met up with family and friends.

Jan took hundreds of scenery shots for reference in future paintings.  She also enjoyed playing cards with Everett and friends.
