Rita, born in Somerset, Ohio, to Patrick Francis and Mary Elizabeth (Leibig), died in Woodinville, Washington with her children by her side.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Duane Mosure, brother Patrick Mooney, sister-in-law Margaret Mooney and nephew Michael Eichner.
Rita will be greatly missed by her daughters: Amy (Thomas) Numrych; Melissa (Ian) Reeve; Jennifer (Steve) Core and Rebecca (Terry) Kawahara; her grandchildren: Sarah Reeve, Jeffrey Numrych and Andy and Austin Kawahara; sister-in-law Joyce (Peter) (Mosure) Tarajos; nieces Christine Berger, Lucy Rains and Molly Eichner and nephew Philip Niedzielski-Eichner.
Rita graduated from Holy Trinity School in Somerset in 1953. She earned a degree in dietetics from Saint Mary of the Springs College (Ohio Dominican University), Columbus, Ohio in 1957.
Rita worked as a registered dietitian, and in foodservice management retiring, from Northern Illinois University after 21 years. She married Duane on August 25, 1962, at Holy Trinity Church.
Rita was a leader of the Rock Valley Dietetic Association and Boone County Homemakers Association; a Red Hats Group, and served on the Resident Council at Creekside Senior Living. She enjoyed cooking, entertaining, pottery, gardening, shopping and traveling.
Rita was especially proud of her Irish heritage. She knew how to love her children as each required, and their lives are richer for it. As Rita said, “I’ve lived a good life.”
The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff at Companion Care Inc., the Northwest Kidney Center in Kirkland, Wash., and the Creekside Senior Living and those who loved and cared for her.
A funeral mass and the burial of Rita and Duane’s ashes at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Somerset, Ohio, is being planned for a future date.
