Local students receive collegiate academic honors across the nation

EASTERN WASHINGTON

The following local students made the EWU Dean’s List for the 2019 fall quarter. An undergraduate student who earns 12 quality hours (QHRS) and receives a GPA of 3.5 or better is placed on the list.

SPOKANE FALLS
COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Susan Hight and Morgan Mead of Bothell and Brooke Bowen of Kenmore were among 1,934 students to make the Spokane Falls Community College Honor Roll on its honor roll for fall quarter, which ended in December. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or above to be listed on the honor roll.

WHITMAN COLLEGE

Sarah Davidson, Linnea Nygren, Mallory Pare, Myan Sudharsanan and Joshua Tang earned academic distinction for the most recent semester at Whitman College. This recognition is given to students who have completed a minimum of 12 credits, passed all credits attempted, and have earned a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher on no fewer than nine graded credits during the semester.

CHAPLIN COLLEGE

Amber Halvorsen of Bothell has been named to the Champlain College Dean’s List for the fall 2019 semester. Students on the Dean’s List have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher during the semester.

CLEMSON UNIVERSITY

Devyn Marie Young of Woodinville has been named to the President’s List at Clemson University. Young, whose major is Elementary Education, made the President’s List for the fall 2019 semester. To be named to the President’s List, a student must achieve a 4.0 grade-point average.

COLBY COLLEGE

Hongyi Ji of Bothell was recently named to the highly selective Dean’s List at Colby College for outstanding academic achievement during the fall semester of the 2019-20 academic year. Ji is one of 566 Colby students to make Dean’s List with an average 3.75 GPA.

GEORGIA INSTITUTE OF
TECHNOLOGY

Carlos Abreu Takemura and Pooja Wadhwa of Bothell were amongst 4,200 undergraduate and graduate students to receive degrees from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Takemura and Wadhwa earned a Master of Science in Computer Science degree. 

GROVE CITY COLLEGE

Bothell’s Sionna Spear, a junior Biblical and Religious Studies major at Grove City College, has been named to the Dean’s List with High Distinction for the fall 2019 semester. Students eligible for the Dean’s List have a GPA of 3.40 to 3.59, for the Dean’s List with Distinction a GPA of 3.60 to 3.84 and for the Dean’s List with High Distinction a GPA of 3.85 to 4.0.

KNOX COLLEGE

Alyx Farris of Bothell has been named to the Knox College Dean’s List of distinguished students for the 2019 fall term. To be named to the Dean’s List, a student must have earned at least 2.5 credits in the term, with a grade point average of 3.6 or better (on a 4.0 scale). A graduate of Family Church Academy high school, Farris is majoring at Knox in Art History. 

NORTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY

Abigale Purvis of Woodinville was recently named to the University’s Dean’s List for the fall semester, which ended in December 2019. Purvis is majoring in International Business. To achieve the dean’s list distinction, students must carry a full program of at least four courses, have a quality point average of 3.5 or greater out of a possible 4.0 and carry no single grade lower than a C- during the course of their college career.
