December 29, 2019
Edward William Todd, 71, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2019, after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia.
Ed was born in the Philippines to Ed and Doris Todd and grew up in Hawai’i on the island of Maui.
After high school, Ed moved to Seattle for college and lived in the Pacific Northwest for the rest of his life, but he never lost his love for Hawai’i or stopped calling Maui home.
He met the love of his life, Jan and in 1983 they married. Ed and Jan raised two children together, Erin and Kelsey.
Ed was a man of faith with a lifelong passion for serving in his church as an elder at Lake Grove Presbyterian Church and dedicated his life to supporting diverse and underprivileged communities.
In his career with Safeco, he served as a Diversity Marketing Specialist, where he identified and supported non-profit organizations serving their local communities throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Ed played a positive role in his community and served as President of the Chamber of Commerce, President of the School District Education Foundation, and was selected as Community Leader of the year, all in Lake Oswego, Oregon.
After moving to Seattle, Ed spent many years counseling and mentoring minority small business owners. He was a resident of Woodinville from 2002-2018.
Ed is survived by his wife Jan, daughter Kelsey (Reed) of Seattle, his daughter Erin (Christopher) and sister Barbara (James) of New Zealand, and his stepmother Mabel of Hawai’i.
Memorial donations in memory of Ed can be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (www.lbda.org/donate).
