Forget the armchair explorer: this is the age of the pocket traveler. In the not-quite-decade since smartphones burst onto the market, ingenious developers have come up with an impossible range of apps designed to make your travels smoother, cheaper and more fun. Even as a local apps are used as more than a resource, they foster community.

Destination Woodinville is your mobile concierge for discovering local Woodinville tourism. It includes wineries, breweries, distilleries, dining, lodging and more … much like the name implies, this app will help in almost every step of your Woodinville experience. The app was developed by Woodinville resident Bill Holt, founder of Every Picture Tells a Story. Much like many of Woodinville’s businesses, it was the creative spirit of Stuart Butler of Butler Seattle who saw the vision of creating this Woodinville area app to guide locals and tourists alike. He wanted to capture the unique personality of this small eastside town.

Personalities. They’re what make wines and those who create them so endlessly intriguing. If you know wine, you know how unique wine regions and winemakers can be. That goes for the 13 AVAs of Washington state, the hundreds of wineries that make their home here, and the four districts that comprise Woodinville Wine Country. It’s easy to imagine Woodinville as one big mecca of wineries and tasting rooms, but the reality is much more colorful.

Woodinville Wine Country boasts four distinct regions where the hands-on making of wine, food, beer and spirits reigns supreme. Whether it’s flavor, philosophy or environment, each area brings something different and delicious to the table, and each makes a visit to Woodinville not one experience, but many.  Download this app to capture your favorite recreational activities, wineries and more … search: Destination Woodinville in the iTunes App store. Coming soon is a smartphone interface and photo features.
