A new trailer of the documentary “Return to Paradise” will be shown on Saturday, June 7, from 5-8 p.m. at the Duvall Timberlake Church, 15520 Main Street NE.

The film is the story of former “freestyle” skier Mike Vowels, who was paralyzed in a skiing accident at the age of 29. Mike did not return to the slopes until last year, at age 58, when he tried out a mono-ski. With plenty of help and encouragement from his friends, and much trial and error on his part, he was able to conquer the “adaptive skiing equipment” and enjoy being up on the mountains again.

The documentary film has been in production since his return to Sun Valley last spring. The Duvall resident’s next goal, set for sometime in July, is to use a self-ascent sled to ascend Mount Rainier and then mono-ski down.

The June 7 showing will be the 2nd film trailer fundraiser. The ascent sled, now in production, will be unveiled at the event.

When the film is done, all net revenue raised from the showings of the film will go to fund a non-profit adaptive skiing program for injured veterans. Charge is $50 at the door, hosted wine bar and appetizers. Please RSVP to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
