Falcon Juggernaut rolls over Kentwood 48-7

The Merriam-Webster Dictionary describes the word juggernaut as “a massive, inexorable force that crushes whatever is in its path.” Webster’s might as well include a picture of the Woodinville football team in its next edition. There’s no other way to describe them after last Saturday night at Pop Keeney Stadium. Woodinville beat Kentwood 48-7 to advance to the State quarterfinals for the third year in a row.

Northshore Middle School Titans Girls Soccer

Northshore TitansCongratulations to the Northshore Middle School Titans Girls Soccer team for winning the district championship with a record of 7-0.

The team of 7th and 8th grade students are an accomplished group of student athletes both on and off the field.

Lind finishes 23rd at State; Houser Gunning for Next Year

It had been Dustin Lind’s long-time goal to break 16:00. And at the recent State meet in Pasco, he finally did it.
 
The senior Falcon runner closed out his prep career with a time of 15:54.
 
“I told him if he wanted to do it right, I would teach him how to do it,” Woodinville coach Frank Shuck said. “And he executed it perfectly.”

Three Falcons qualified for State

Three Woodinville athletes qualified for State after their performances at District two weekends ago. Senior diver Kylie Mosset was cooperatively spectacular, racking up a score of 440.80 – which broke her own school record. She finished in second place overall at Districts.
 
“She was really clutch and performed great,” Woodinville coach George Sayah said. “She’ll have a fourth place seed at State.”

Lady Falcons triumph on Senior Night

Senior GymnastsGymnasticsWith the post season drawing nigh, the Woodinville gymnastics team got into high gear with a meet victory over Newport, Garfield and Roosevelt on January 23rd at Woodinville High School.

"We’ve been working really hard the last couple of weeks," Woodinville coach Kim Smothermon said. "The girls weren’t pushing themselves as hard as we knew that they could. The seniors really picked it up the last couple of weeks to really push the rest of the team and push themselves to get this awesome win."

The Falcons scored 179.15 points, a fact that pleased Smothermon.

"This was our highest score of the season," she said. "We had set a goal of 177 and the girls surpassed that greatly. It was an awesome night."

The night’s festivities were punctuated by a tribute to each of the five seniors on the Falcon squad.
