The CXC squad competed at the Tahoma Relays. This is not your usual XC meet for a lot of reasons. First off, it is a relay meet, five members per team. Second, it is a coed race. Third off, the meet runs through about 80m of knee/hip high lake water. Course is a 3k (1.86 miles), but times look like the runners have ran 2 miles due to the water.
All of this makes it a very fun meet even with its unusual setup.
For the first time since 2013, our best squad, appropriately called “The A-Team” finished in the top ten. In running order, the squad of Grant Van Valkenburg, Ian Fay, Ben Benson, Alicia Krivanek and Madi Shinn finished sixth overall against a very stellar field. We beat all the teams from 3A size schools and smaller. All five of the squads in front of us were 4A size schools which means almost twice our size, student body wise. This was the eighth year that we have placed a squad in the top ten.
Our athletes of the meet were Ryan LaTurner, Bennett Smith, Katelyn Wells and Helen Lutzenhiser. Congrats to them for a good day of running.
Due to the relay nature of the meet, there are no official results and no official race results.
