Watch for the large 23 foot cage in the Kla Ha Ya Days Parade that begins at 10:30 a.m. Saturday July 21st on First Street in Snohomish.
The roar of the Megaraptor will be heard before you see the dinosaur. Following close behind and greeting the crowd will be a T-Rex nodding his head and asking for a bite…of your candy.
Both larger than life creatures are operated by real people inside and will be available after the parade to see up close and in person. Presented by DinoCrew NW, a new company in the state, the dinosaurs are a way to bring the past to the present in an exciting and new way.
“We would like each child and family to know that yes, dinosaurs are big and scary but they can also be very friendly,” say Tyler McGuinn, owner of DinoCrew NW. Kids will get a chance to interact with the dinosaurs and play games like fetch but be careful though. The dinosaur just might lick you. And that’s in a friendly way. Kids may also try their hand at a fossil dig, see the egg exhibit and take an egg home. What’s inside? A baby dinosaur, of course. Similar to the one kids can pet while the two big ones take a break.
The ‘puppets’ are designed by Universal Studios and airbrushed in Phoenix, Arizona to create as realistic as possible an experience of real dinosaurs. The engineering in the costumes allows the actors to move like dinosaurs with appropriate Jurassic like sounds to ignite all the senses of a child or parent.
Besides entertainment, DinoCrew NW will be reaching out to schools and STEM programs for learning opportunities and presentations. “When children see what looks to be a real dinosaur in person, they’re hooked,” adds McGuinn. “They want to know more about these dinosaurs. There’s so much education brought into this as well as the fun, of course.” The dinosaurs are also available for birthday parties and more info can be found at http://dinocrewentertainment.com/ .
Fair goers are encouraged to stay for more games, the circus, carnival, music, beer garden and the street fair at Kla Ha Ya Days and to return on Sunday the 22nd for the Car & Motorcycle Show and Shine 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
