Plan ahead for construction on SR 522

  • Written by Woodinville Weekly Staff
One of the largest-ever road projects in Bothell, funded by Sound Transit 3, will begin construction later this month. It will widen the existing lanes of SR 522 and create Business Access and Transit (BAT) lanes in both directions. The project also will add a sidewalk on the north side, install center medians and street lights, and relocate utilities underground.

There will be significant impacts to vehicular traffic on SR 522, with lane closures between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., and from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Burke Gilman Trail users may experience construction impacts, too, as the trail may be narrowed for two-way traffic, and on some occasions, alternating one way traffic with flaggers when necessary.
