Bothell 5k Capes for Courage Run/Walk

  • Written by Woodinville Weekly Staff
Sam was so happy and proud to complete the Bothell 5k Capes for Courage Run/Walk last August.  He’d been practicing all summer to keep focused on the finish line.  In addition to training for the run/walk, he also worked hard toward competing in the track and field category of the Special Olympics.
You can see Sam and other athletes of all skills and levels by joining us at the 4th annual Capes for Courage 5k Run/Walk on August 3rd.  The theme was inspired by all the individuals who have the courage to be superheroes as they participate in life. You are all welcome to wear your Super Hero costume to celebrate!
Promoting “Fun for All”, the Northshore Inclusion Program (part of Northshore Senior Center) provides fun and friendship for individuals of all abilities through year-round recreation, skills and socialization opportunities, as well as advocacy and family support.  Founded in 1998, it is one of the largest programs of its kind in the Puget Sound area. The Inclusion Program offerings include life skills, health and fitness classes, Special Olympic sports, a year-round bowling team, theater, art, singing, social programming, summer camps, martial arts, tennis, a day activity program and the Kiwanis Aktion leadership club.
Net proceeds from the annual 5K fund raising event will support the Northshore inclusion program and Special Olympics athletes.  Our fundraising goal is $35,000.
The course is flat and fast.  It starts at the Northshore Health and Wellness Center in Bothell across from the Northshore Senior Center.  5kRun/Walk is $25, price will increase after May 3.  Register at
