Council appoints former mayor Chuck Price to vacant seat

A new, old face joined Woodinville City Council nearly 10 years after his last term.

Former mayor and councilmember Chuck Price was appointed by the council in a 5-1 vote Tuesday, Feb. 4. He will fill the seat previously held by Paula Waters, who stepped down in November.

Council interviewed three other candidates during the regular meeting: local winemaker and dentist Kit Singh, former Bothell mayor, and councilmember Paul Cowles and Public Spaces Commissioner Sarah Arndt.

Price was first elected to the council in 2001 and announced his midterm resigned in August 2011. During his tenure as a public official, he served on the King County Jail Oversight Assembly, King County Metropolitan Solid Waste Committee, the Council Finance Committee, and Council Public Works Committee.

He cited a new job with an engineering consulting firm as the reason for leaving the council in 2011.
