The Sammamish Symphony Orchestra, led by conductor and music director Adam Stern, closes their 2017-2018 concert season in June with a blaze of Romanticism as they present Fire and Sentiment: Tchaikovsky’s Fifth. The program features works inspired by the Romantic movement of the late 19th century including Arthur Sullivan’s charming and cheery Overture, H.M.S. Pinafore and Edvard Grieg’s beautifully orchestrated and melodic Lyric Suites, conducted by the Sammamish Symphony’s own concertmaster, Allion Salvador. Rounding out the program, and the orchestra’s season, is Tchaikovsky’s passionate Symphony No. 5, with its musical depiction of Fate in four movements that dramatically progresses from a melancholic and somber opening to an ultimately soaring and triumphant finale.
