The Veterinary Science team competed in a two-day competition at state convention. Congratulations to team members Amy Duer, Anna Knutson, Brooke Downing, Emma Chaffin, and Madison Rose, for winning 3rd place out of 69 teams at the Washington State Convention! Amy Duer was also recognized for placing 3rd individually in the state.

The National Chapter Award Program honors FFA chapters that actively strive to implement the mission and policies of the National FFA organization in their schools and community. Students who participate in the National Chapter program prepare and give a presentation about their FFA chapter’s activities and service projects. FFA chapters that demonstrate leadership, community service, and passionate contribution to agriculture are recognized with progressive levels of merit. Leila Misallati and Megan Reid participated in the National Chapter competition earning Cedarcrest FFA the classification of a two-star chapter.

FFA members who participate in the Farm for Kids activity educate elementary students on the importance of agriculture. Participants create an informative presentation to captivate the interest of younger students, and inform them about the specific agricultural topic they are assigned. Cedarcrest FFA members Ella Dianich and Judah Lints participated in the Farm for Kids activity at state convention. Each individual is recognized for their contribution to promoting agricultural education.

The First Year Member Green Hand team allows new FFA members to compete in a comprehensive exam on FFA and the agriculture industry, as well as participate in a team problem-solving challenge. Team members included Elisabeth Anderson, Keaton Downing, Parker Downing, and Sawyer Vondra. The team placed 20th out of 89 teams!

Anna Christensen competed in the Prepared Public Speaking Career Development Event. Members who compete in prepared speaking present a memorized speech on an agricultural research topic of their choice. Anna earned 3rd place in her level of Prepared Public Speaking.

Taylor Ford competed in the Job Interview Career Development event at state convention. Participants compose a resume, fill out a job application, and participate in a mock interview for an agricultural job description of their choice. Advancing through multiple rounds of interviews, Taylor received 9th place overall.

At State Convention, Anna Knutson and Kendra Mutch received their FFA State Degree. These members completed an application, reporting on their agricultural education courses and their involvement in FFA activities during high school to qualify for the degree.

The dedication and exceptional performance of each student contributed to the outstanding achievements of Cedarcrest FFA at the 2018 Washington State Convention.
