“School’s out and summer is just about to get into full swing. I am thrilled to share with the community two new partnerships that will bring four more weeks of summer camps to Duvall and the Snoqualmie Valley. We are thrilled to welcome back to Duvall, the Northshore YMCA and announce a new partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of Snohomish County,” exclaimed Mayor of Duvall Amy Ocklerlander.
Day camps will be held by the Northshore YMCA, which also provides its services to Woodinville, Bothell, and Kenmore, July 23-27 at McCormick Park (26200 NE Stephens St, Duvall, WA 98019). The outdoors are the center of the educational activities during these day camps where attendees will be able to swim and adventure in addition to having the chance to participate in arts and crafts.
Additionally, Northshore YMCA is offering a Multi-Sport Camp at Big Rock Ballfields (28430 NE Big Rock Rd, Duvall, WA 98019) from July 30th-August 3rd. This day camp will allow all the future sports stars a shot at tennis, lacrosse, basketball, and soccer.
The Boys and Girls Club of Snohomish County will be hosting their camp August 6-10 and August 13-17. Every day’s theme differs from cooking projects to arts and crafts. This opportunity is open for grade school kids from kindergarten through 6th grade.
In exciting news for Duvall’s furry friends is a plan from local Boy Scout Ikaika Ward. Ikaika is on a mission to get his Eagle Scout award and you have the opportunity to help fund the fencing of a place that will certainly bring community members to enjoy their four-legged friends together. His plan is to build a fenced dog park around the Dougherty Farmstead (26524 NE Cherry Valley Road). He will be fundraising for materials by offering specialized “puppy bricks” that purchasers can have their favorite pet’s name inscribed on that will then be placed in the walkway at the new dog park. The hopeful completion for this project is either fall or winter of this year.
The next Duvall City Council meeting will be July 17 at 7:00p.m. at the Riverview Educational Service Center (15510 First Avenue NE). These meetings occur on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. The Duvall City Council also hosts workshops typically before their council meetings. These begin at 5:30p.m. The community members and general public are encouraged to attend both the meetings and the workshops. Community members interested in addressing the council members may do so during an allotted time every meeting.
