People traveling on State Route 203 between Carnation and Duvall will need to follow a signed detour route this weekend, from Saturday morning Feb. 29, to Sunday evening, March 1.
During the closure, geotechnical engineers from the Washington State Department of Transportation will drill into the road to install monitoring equipment to determine the cause of a slow-moving landslide causing large cracks in the roadway.
The equipment will monitor how the hillside is moving, the water content of the soil beneath the road and determine the type of material on which the road is built.
The data collected will help to develop the repair plan.
