Duvall writing conference features New York Times bestselling author Karl Marlantes

vvKarlDuvall resident Karl Marlantes, bestselling author of Matterhorn: A Novel of the Vietnam War, will keynote at the Call and Response Writing Conference to be held Saturday, June 15 at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, 26526 NE Cherry Valley Road in Duvall, from 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.

The focus of the conference is writing as a spiritual calling. The day will consist of writing workshops led by award-winning authors, including poet Carolyne Wright (Seasons of Mangoes and Brainfire), winner of the American Book Award; YA authors Janet Lee Carey (Dragonswood), Katherine Grace Bond (The Summer of No Regrets) and Bev Cooke (Royal Monastic: Ileana, Princess of Romania); Peggy King Anderson (Fall of the Red Star), winner of the SCBWI Lifetime Achievement Award;  Eastern Orthodox humorist Alex Riggle, creator of the satirical website "The Onion Dome," Heidi Pettit, founder of "Artemis," a creative process group of award-winning artists, and Jennie Caldwell, pastoral assistant for Faith Formation for Children, Youth and Adults at Holy Innocents Parish.

Suggested donation for the day is $80. Funds raised will benefit the St. Vincent de Paul Society charities.
