Mark Verburg, a recent graduate of Cedar Park Christian school, had a very interesting and rewarding summer interning for the Tumor Vaccine Group of the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle.
He worked closely with Juan Pablo Marquez-Manriquez, M.D. performing the ELISA, ELISpot and Western blot experiments that aid in the search for immune-based therapies for patients with a high risk of developing cancer. This is Verburg’s second summer interning with the Tumor Vaccine Group.
He will be attending Boston College in the fall with a planned major in biochemistry along with additional courses that will qualify him for medical school.
