Astound expands Wi-Fi network to new Pacific Northwest areas

Astound, a leading provider of internet and TV services, has announced a significant expansion of its high-speed Wi-Fi network into new areas of Western Washington and Oregon. The initiative, backed by a $4 million investment, aims to bring reliable, high-speed internet to over 40,000 homes and 5,000 businesses in predominantly rural communities by the end of 2025. This expansion leverages fixed wireless technology, which is specifically designed to overcome geographical challenges often found in rural areas, such as dense trees and hills.

The company has already made its new services available to 29,000 homes in areas including Longview, Kelso, Castle Rock, Oak Harbor, and Camano Island in Washington, as well as several communities in Columbia County, Oregon. Astound’s fixed wireless offering delivers fast, low-latency broadband that can support video conferencing, streaming, and remote work, with speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second. The technology can be deployed rapidly, often in a matter of days, by utilizing existing poles and towers, which is a key advantage over the time-consuming process of traditional fiber construction. This project is a part of Astound’s broader mission to bridge the digital divide and provide more communities with access to reliable internet, supporting modern digital life.
