AI Agents: A New Era for U.S. Businesses

A new survey from PwC reveals that U.S. companies are quickly adopting AI agents, with a majority of leaders believing this technology will have an even bigger impact on the workplace than the internet. The survey, which gathered responses from over 300 senior business leaders in April 2025, shows that while adoption is high, businesses still have a lot of work to do to fully take advantage of this new technology.

The findings show that an impressive 79% of organizations are already using AI agents, and 66% of those businesses report seeing a measurable benefit, mostly in being more productive. However, the survey also points to a key challenge: most companies are only using AI for basic tasks like data entry, and 68% of leaders admit that fewer than half of their employees are using the tools regularly.

Executives are excited about the future, with 88% planning to increase their AI spending next year. They also believe in a positive impact on jobs, with 67% expecting a major change in job roles and 48% even thinking their number of employees will increase. The biggest worries for these leaders are cybersecurity and cost, but PwC points out that the real challenges are human factors, like getting employees to use the new tools and being willing to completely change how the business works. To succeed, companies must move beyond simple use and redesign their entire business models to truly unlock the power of AI agents.
