Woodinville boys tip off against Mariner Saturday

After finishing the regular season with a 17-5 record and a 10-3 league record, the Woodinville Falcons varsity boys’ basketball team took their No. 1 seed into the KingCo. 4A Boys Basketball Championship on Feb. 2-4 at Bellevue College.

In the opening round, on Feb. 2, the Falcons drew No. 2 seed Skyline who defeated Woodinville 54-49, sending them to a second-round matchup against North Creek on Feb. 4

Against the Jaguars, the Falcons got ahead early in the first quarter, taking an 18-12 lead. Woodinville added 19 second quarter points to end the half with a 37-26 lead over the Jaguars.

The second half opened with more Woodinville scoring. The Falcons scored 20 third quarter points while only allowing the Jags 7. Heading into the fourth quarter, Woodinville held a 57-33 lead.

At the final buzzer, the Falcons defeated the Jaguars 73-49.

The win advances the Falcons to the District 1/2 Tournament Feb. 9-17 at Woodinville High School.

The Falcons face Mariner High School on Saturday, Feb. 11. Tipoff is 7 p.m. The winner advances to the semifinals on Tuesday, Feb. 14.
