Leslie ERICKSON 1953 - 2023
Leslie Vea Erickson, age 70, of Woodinville, Washington, died peacefully with her family at Evergreen Health Hospice Care in Kirkland, Washington, on Wednes- day, December 20, 2023. She passed away from breast cancer. Leslie grew up in Kenmore and graduated with honors from Inglemoor High School in 1971. She earned a BA in Education with honors from Washington State University, attended the University of Washington in their MBA Program, and earned a BA in Business Administration in account- ing with honors at the University of Alaska in Anchorage. While at WSU, she was a member of the sorority Kappa Alpha Theta. In 1975, she served as a Seafair princess. Leslie began her career as a tax accountant, practicing at Price Waterhouse in Anchorage, Alaska, for a year, before transferring to Boston, Massachusetts, with her husband. They lived in Boston until 1987 when they returned to Seattle with her husband and their then two-year-old son, Mark. Leslie practiced tax accounting at Smith Bunday Berman Britton in Bellevue for over 30 years. Leslie was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015.
After successfully overcoming cancer, she entered remission until it recurred as metastatic breast cancer in 2021. We are grateful to Fred Hutch Cancer Center, Evergreen Health Hospice, and the wonderful doctors and nurses for their dedicated, kind, and compassionate care that she received. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Shoreline, where she married Doug Erickson. They spent 46 wonderful years together and have two children: Mark, a special education teacher at Bothell High School, his wife Torie and their kids Ella, Teddy, and Jillian, a physical therapist in Denver, CO. Along with her immediate family, she is also survived by her mother, Kay Vea; sister, Robin Schifferman, and her husband Reed; brother, Brad Vea, and his wife Lynne Vea. Leslie had numerous relatives in Washington and other states. Leslie was determined to live life to the fullest. She was always positive, a generous friend, and a joy to be around. A service is planned at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Shoreline on February 24th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fred Hutch Cancer Center, Evergreen Health Hospice Services, or Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Shoreline.
